KWIZERA ACADEMY

Kwizera Academy is a private Christian school. The school’s mission is to ‘Motivate and Raise up a generation of community transformers. We believe that the best way to break the back of despair and crack open the possibilities of a new kind of life in rural Burundi hinges on the prospects of each child. The future of rural families is in the hands of their children because they have fresh eyes to see what can be done in their community.

Kwizera Academy currently offers a preschool, elementary primary education and middle school.

Education at Kwizera Academy is based on these 4 Cs to ensure that the children we educate have minds, hands and hearts trained to create a better future for their community.

Curriculum
Development

Teachers are encouraged to step out of the box and be creative while using the enriched French curriculum used at Kwizera Academy. Our long-term goal is to develop a customized curriculum for our school and our children at Muyange II.

Community
Partnership

As we educate at Kwizera Academy, we are aware that we are surrounded by a larger community. The infrastructure and facilities are occasionally offered for use in the community with an understanding of proper usage.

Campus
Culture

Starting at an early age, we are teaching good practices such as drinking clean water, washing hands and clothes, daily baths, proper use of toilets, good table manners, keeping a clean environment, and many more. These will be lifelong skills and habits for themselves and even for the community.

Collaboration

Even though the school is private, we collaborate with the neighboring school by sharing or helping meet some of their needs. For instance, we donated chairs and helped in construction of extra classrooms. We also collaborate with the local government authorities. They know that we can be counted on to help out where we have expertise.
