CREATING PATHS TO PROSPERITY …

COH gives families stuck in poverty the land, seeds, and other services they need to move toward sustainability. What does that look like in real life? Jean Bosco and Esperine’s family (from Matara) shows how just a little support can make all the difference.

Jean Bosco and Esperine’s family (from Matara) shows how just a little support can make all the difference.

Before COH, Jean Bosco and Esperine lived on someone else land as slaves (the local term is Abagererwa). They were slaves and got paid in food for farming the land. They earned no money, and there was not any way to get ahead. One day the owner told Jean Bosco that he was planning to sale off his land. The family was scared and didn’t know what they would do.

Not long after that, Jean Bosco connected with COH. With the support of COH, Jean Bosco and Esperine decided they should start a business in the new land—which would give their family a secure future. For years, Jean Bosco and Esperine received agricultural & business training from COH—as well as other support as they built a home, got their kids in school, and created a thriving community.

Today, Jean Bosco and Esperine have reached a state of a sustainable prosperity—they have a dignified home and successful crops.

It’s amazing to see how far this family has come through their own hard work, the grace of God, and the help of COH! Experience more stories like theirs in our newsletters and videos.
